The prostate is a gland that sits just below the bladder and surrounds the water pipe. It can become enlarged and cause difficulty passing urine. In most cases this is just a part of getting older ( Benign prostatic hyperplasia ). Sometimes it can be due to prostate cancer . The prostate can also becomes inflamesd or infected and cause  pain ( prostatitis )
